The Gulf Fritillary butterfly (Agraulis vanillae) lays its eggs on the passionflower vine (Passiflora), its host plant. The eggs are tiny and yellow. You'll see caterpillars and then chrysalids and then adult butterflies emerging from the chrysalids.
