I live in Arkansas where have a tree in our front yard. I'm told It's known as a "false plum". It puts out a veritable galaxy of small white blossoms. I believe these flies are the species that swarm that tree every year. I keep honey bees, so knew they weren't mine, but wasn't quite sure what. Thanks for the identification!! Good to know..

When I read the title and seen the pictures, I instantly thought it was a nee. Surprising to read that it is actually a fly.
