Hi Kathy, I've lived in the Central Valley all my life and I've never seen a striped lady bug. Is there a reason they are here now, or did I just never notice them before (I have a hard time believing that since I'm a "bug nerd" of sorts...)

I don't ever recalling seeing one here, either! It's a native, according to the Bohart Museum of Entomology. This one scurried under the poppy petal as soon as it saw my camera lens.

Thanks for sharing this. Now I will be able to tell people about lady bugs that are striped. I assume they are beneficial?

I give talks on beneficial insects. I assume they are beneficial? Can I use your photo? Will give you credit.

I just now found one of these striped ladybugs. I live in Spokane, Wash. I've never seen one before, so I had to look it up so I could share it with my-9-year-old -- who loves bugs.

I just got in the net to search for this ladybug. Never seen one in my life. As I am driving my daughter to school this morning it was walking around my stirring wheel. We are in Texas just under 2 hours from Houston.

On Saturday, May 20, I found one of these yellow-striped ladybugs in a man-made lake at a water park in northern California. I "rescued" it from the water, and it stayed on my hand for about five minutes before I managed to get it to crawl off onto a sun shade. (At least once it pushed against the shade with enough force that I felt it before leaving.) While on my hand it drank a few drops of water.

My daughter loves bugs, and this was the first striped ladybug we have seen.

I just found a striped ladybug while pulling weeds in my yard. Iā€™m in far north Dallas, TX.
I stumbled into your site while googling whether or not it was really a ladybug. I guess it is. šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ™‚
