Mutli-tasking indeed. They do a great job on our roses, as do the soldier beetles. WHy don't they eat the aphids on our kale?

Why don't the lady beetles eat the aphids on the kale? Lynn Kimsey, director of the Bohart Museum of Entomology and professor of entomology at UC Davis, says: "Interesting question...I suspect that aphids that feed on crucifers like kale may sequester cruciferin or something similar which may make them distasteful." She is checking into this.

Thank you for asking this, Dan! Aphids are hard to rinse off broccoli, and they taste bitter to me. Thank you Lynn Kimsey for checking into this question.
