Nice photos of honey bees-
You can also take photos of California native bees in their native environment, or in your garden planted with native flowers. Observing and photographing native bees, or any insects visiting flowers, adds another level of experiencing landscape.
Earlier this year I found Diadasia ochracea in my Pasadena garden Globemallows (Sphaeralcea ambigua). During subsequent searches nearby I also found them in Globemallows planted at the Ranch Project at Huntington Gardens, at the gardens of Theodore Payne Foundation, as well as at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden (on Malacothamnus fasciculatus).

Thank you for your comments. Many of us spend our weekends capturing photos of insects, including native California bees.
